Who I am
I'm George, an energy lawyer in Calgary, and in-house counsel with TC Energy, where I work on the commercial and regulatory questions behind one of North America's largest pipeline networks.
I came to law from an unusual direction. Before my JD, I scaled a junior explorer's land base from 2,000 to over 110,000 acres as a petroleum landman, and sold homes as a REALTOR. That grounding still shapes how I practise: I care about what moves a deal, not just what's on the page.
At Ottawa my focus ran across securities, real estate law, and privacy, the last through CIPPIC. I practised at Dentons in both the Energy and the Privacy and Cybersecurity groups, and I'm a CIPP/C privacy professional who has published on Bill C-27 and the privacy rights of Canada's children.
Now one question drives me: how should lawyers actually use AI? In my spare time I build personal productivity tools, keep a prompt library, and write about adoption that helps lawyers work smarter without surrendering judgment.
When I step away, I'm usually behind a camera.
